1X Phosphate-Buffered Saline, 0.1% Tween® 20 Detergent (PBST) for Western Blotting

1X Phosphate-Buffered Saline, 0.1% Tween® 20 Detergent (PBST) for Western Blotting is a widely used wash buffer in biological research applications. It provides an isotonic environment and contains phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) along with Tween® 20 detergent. PBST is commonly used in Western blotting and various immunoassays.

To prepare 1 liter of 1X PBST, you will need to combine 100 mL of 10X PBS stock solution, 1 mL of Tween® 20 detergent, and 900 mL of water. The 10X PBS stock solution provides the necessary concentrations of NaCl (137 mM), KCl (2.7 mM), Na2HPO4 (10 mM), and KH2PO4 (1.8 mM). The addition of 1 mL of Tween® 20 detergent achieves a final concentration of 0.1% (w/v) in the PBST solution.

This PBST recipe calculator simplifies the preparation process for any desired volume of PBST wash buffer. Simply input your desired volume in milliliters, click the CALCULATE button, and the calculator will populate the table with the precise amounts of each component required to prepare the PBST solution.

By using the 1X PBST solution, you can ensure the appropriate concentrations of NaCl, KCl, Na2HPO4, KH2PO4, and Tween® 20 detergent, which are crucial for achieving accurate and reliable results in Western blotting and other immunoassays.
